Billy McKinney is a native of the North East section of Philadelphia. The first time he saw the game of lacrosse was at practice as a high school freshman at the William Penn Charter School. He was fortunate to have been taught the game by L.E.A.P.S. Advisory Board Member Tony Resch, a Philadelphia lacrosse legend and one of the greatest defenseman to ever play.
Upon graduating from Denver, Billy returned to Penn Charter to work in the development office, and coach middle school football and high school lacrosse. During this time, he took his game to Major League Lacrosse and spent two seasons playing for his hometown Philadelphia Barrage. Billy’s passion for the game, combined with a devotion to working with young individuals led him in the direction of becoming a full-time coach. Billy moved on from Penn Charter to become the Defensive Coordinator for the Lafayette College Men’s Lacrosse team. Currently, he patrols the sidelines as Defensive Coordinator for the Haverford College Men’s Lacrosse team.
