Eric J. Gregg, Founder and Co-Director Eric J. Gregg was born and raised in West Philadelphia. Lacrosse and the goalie position were demonstrated to him at a young age in school. Gregg was fortunate enough to hone his skills at Camp Tecumseh in New Hampshire and in the Ashbee Lacrosse Club. Eric had the privilege of attending the Episcopal Academy and won back-to-back Pennsylvania State Championships in 1995 and 1996 as a high school junior and senior. Gregg then accepted an offer to attend the Lawrenceville School (NJ) in 1997 and was named lacrosse team MVP. Eric moved on to earn the right to play collegiately at Gettysburg College from 1998-2002. As a Bullet, Gregg played on teams that won four consecutive conference championships and went to back-to-back NCAA Division III National Championship games in 2001 and 2002. Soon after college, Gregg decided to give back to the game and began coaching goalies in 2003, at the high school varsity level at Lower Merion HS in Ardmore, Pa. He then moved on to coach defense and goalies at Penn Charter HS in Philadelphia from 2004-2008 and helped guide the Quakers to the PA State Playoffs each year and the 2008 PA State Playoff Final Four. After some gentle nudging from former coaches, Gregg returned to the field as a player in 2006 for Philadelphia’s premier men’s post-collegiate club team GMH Lacrosse Club, formerly MAB Paints Lacrosse Club. Eric was promptly invited to the MLL’s Philadelphia Barrage training camp in 2007, earned a spot on the roster, and currently holds a goalie spot for the Barrage. Born August 17, 1978, Gregg resides in Philadelphia. His father, the late Eric E. Gregg, was a Major League Baseball umpire for 26 years. Despite a deep fondness for baseball, Eric J. founded the for-profit Head-Heart-Hustle Lacrosse in 2008 to provide individual and team lacrosse training. He also serves as the Head Lacrosse Coach at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia. Ultimately, Gregg is a lifelong learner who hopes to change young lives the way his was by introducing lacrosse to kids who have yet to see the game. Past coaches serve as inspiration and constantly remind Eric that an attitude of gratitude is paramount to success. |
